Defining Your site's Goals

Before you invest time, money and energy into building your site,
Define your goals to see if they're achievable. Begin by asking yourself
and your company a series of important questions:
What is the purpose of your site ? Promotion ? Marketing ?Information?
Who are the target audience? The desired audience will have a great impact on how the page is created .
Exactly what product or service you are going to provide?
What three words describe your company’s image?
Who are your competitors and what are they up to?
What resources (real and human) do you need for the web endeavor and what do you have?
What types of content or technology are available within your budget?
How will the web endeavor further the company goals and reach its customer base or audience?
What marketing tools do you now utilize?? And how will .those translate to the Internet??
What customer service or technical support functions can you transfer to the Internet??
How will you recognize and measure success?
If there's already a comprehensive site on the same topic already online, can you match it? Or better it?

A recent survey of 8,600 U.S. Households asked:

Why Users Return to Their Favorite Web Sites

1-
High Quality Content--75%
2-
Easy To Use--66%
3-
Quick Download Time--58%
4-
Frequent Updates--54%

If your web site does these 4 things you are well on your way
to internet success.
