Keywords goes in the <Head > under <Meta Keywords> tag , some search engine but not all use these tags to determine your ranking .Most experts beleive that search engine index a certain number of the keywords listed in those tags so there is no use to stack them with a huge list of keywords .

Think of the most importnat keywords to best describe your site.

the title of your page is displayed also on the top bar of the browser .

If someone bookmarked your site it's the title what displays in his bookmark book.

Some search engines assign great attention to the words in the title , it should begin with the name of your website and a brief description

For example a web design site would have :- Website Name -, Creative Graphics and Web Design.

Image Alt Tags

An image Alt tag follows your graphic name or URL in your HTML code. These words usually will be displayed in place of your graphics through an older browser or when your visitors have their graphics turned off.

To fully optimize your graphics, insert your keyword phrases within the Alt tags of your graphics. At a bare minimum, make sure you use enough images to display all of your keyword phrases.
Remember...your primary keyword phrase should always come first.

Example for a Barber Shop site, name your images as follows (Notice the images are named using the three primary keyword phrases):

Haircut_styles_tips.jpg
Body_beauty_supplies.jpg

Example:

<IMG SRC="WIDTH="80" HEIGHT="105" Haircut_styles_tips.jpg ALT="Hair cut styles tips">
<IMG SRC="WIDTH="80" HEIGHT="105" Body_beauty_supplies.jpg
ALT="Body Beauty Supplies ">
